Acorn Award

The Acorn Award Trophy

A theme is decided at the beginning of the year by the Trust and advised to the schools when they are invited to participate. The award aims to increase partnership working between schools, parents and local organisations. Each school is awarded £500 at the beginning of the project to cover any costs incurred while running the project.

At the end of the project judges from Levenseat Trust visit each school to learn about their project and meet the pupils involved. The schools are then invited along to a presentation day where the Award winner is announced and they receive the trophy for a year and a cheque for £50.

Criteria to be considered by the Trust Panel

  • The level of the children’s involvement
  • Were the parents and local community involved?
  • What was the standard of evidence supplied by the presentation on the themes

The theme for 2017 was”Renewable Energy – using STEM subjects design and create a model to harness renewable energy”.
